100 Ways With Nature

Local government supporting community connection with local nature: an essential foundation for health, wellbeing, and stewardship

Local government supporting community connection with local nature: an essential foundation for health, wellbeing, and stewardship

The City of Marion’s Valuing Marion’s Nature program supports greater community understanding and appreciation of local nature through activities such as wildlife watching, nature play, bike rides, guided walks, and hands-on workshops.

As part of the program, Nature Street Creative worked collaboratively with Council and Minka Creative Studio to develop a series of three resources, collectively highlighting 100 ways to experience nature in the City of Marion. The place-based resources share ways to experience local conservation and recreation parks, coast and marine areas, watercourses, playgrounds, community gardens, and linear trails.

The resources are 30 Ways to Connect with Nature in the City of Marion (a resource for all ages); 30 Ways to Nature Play in the City of Marion (parent resource); and 40 Places to Experience nature in the City of Marion (map for all ages).

Nature Street Creative generated concept creation in collaboration with Minka Creative Studio. NSC was responsible for project management, research, and writing with creative design and finished art by Minka Creative Studio.  Hard copies of the resources are available at Council events, libraries, neighbourhood centres, and Council offices.

  • “We engaged Claire to develop a series of resources to encourage our residents to connect with nature. From developing the concept to working out the finer details, Claire was an absolute pleasure to work with. I appreciated her creativity, responsiveness, and passion for connecting people with nature”

Anna Haygreen - Environmental Engagement Officer, City of Marion
