Supporting delivery and outcomes reporting for a Coastal Ambassador’s Congress

The adult and youth Coastal Ambassador programs are community stewardship initiatives that increase education and awareness of local coastal and marine environments. Participants gain practical skills and information to help them look after our seascapes and spread conservation messages within their communities. Dr Mike Bossley of Whale and Dolphin Conservation leads the program, which Green Adelaide developed, supports, and funds.

The adult program has run for over 12 years, and in 2018, a congress was held for graduates from all course years. The objectives were to reconnect and inspire Ambassadors, to discuss future South Australian coast and marine community directions, and to facilitate input into the design of future adult Coastal Ambassador programs.

Nature Street Creative was engaged as an independent facilitator to help shape the congress agenda and facilitate the afternoon Ambassador workshop session. NSC wrote the Congress outcomes report and provided recommendations for consideration by the AMLR NRM Board’s Coast and Seas team and Dr. Mike Bossley. A briefing paper was then developed for the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board.

  • “Claire is organised and reliable so was an easy choice to engage to facilitate the Coastal Ambassadors Congress. Her scientific background and community engagement skills are the perfect combination for this type of event. The congress ran very smoothly and the level of detail in the report that we received after completion of the congress was exceptional. The facilitation on the day and the comprehensive report allowed us to make important decisions about the program which was the desired outcome.”
