A bold approach to conservation education, recognising nature is at the centre of who we are, as people and as a collective

Developed over four years by Jason Tyndall, not-for-profit Nature Play SA, and Minka Creative Studio, the book 'Where birds sing and wildflowers dance' is a renewed narrative of connecting to nature and ourselves.

Drawing upon art and science, it crafts a beautiful and compelling story of South Australia's wildlife, plants, and ecosystems. It explores notions of self – such as love, belief, doubt – while entwining ecological concepts of habitats, symbiotic relationships, fire, environmental clearance, species behaviour, extinction, and recovery.

Nature Street Creative worked as the book's editor for 18 months until its release in June 2021, focussing on copy editing, technical reviews, and assisting proofreading from first to final drafts to help refine content and bring the book to life. In addition, NSC worked collaboratively with the project team and Minka Creative Studio to lead development and implementation of the book’s launch campaign on social media and via email marketing.

‘Where birds sing and wildflowers dance’ is available online and from a growing list of SA stockists, including Cleland Wildlife Park, State Flora, Snowys Outdoors, and Matilda Bookshop.

  • “Claire played a pivotal role in bringing Where Birds Sing and Wildflowers Dance to life. Not only was her attention to detail incredible but she also edited copy and provided ideas in a way that maintained the creative narrative and poetic tone”
