Nature Connection Workshops

Guiding conversation to inspire community connection with nature and each other

Guiding conversation to inspire community connection with nature and each other

Working with community gathering place, the Port Environment Centre, Nature Street Creative has facilitated several workshops on the value of regular connection with nature. Participants meet like-minded people, explore the benefits of time outdoors, share barriers, pick up tips and tricks, and discover local places to visit and play.

Claire Lock has designed interactive sessions that recognise individuals' knowledge and encourage participation and discussion. Her approach guides conversation around benefits, barriers, opportunities, and ways to connect with nature. Themes explored include the health and well-being benefits of noticing, being active, giving back, learning, and connecting with our natural world.

Workshops are tailored for local environments and have included showcasing the recently launched Coastal Places guide. For the 2021 Nature Festival, Claire received a micro-grant to deliver a nature connection workshop and guided participants on a walk to discover the local North Haven dunes, highlighting native and introduced plants and community conservation activities.

  • “Claire provided lots of practical ways to incorporate nature into our busy everyday lives and brought a wealth of knowledge and lived experiences to the group.”
