Being in local nature is vital for our health and wellbeing, but where do you go if the outdoors feels foreign, you don't know an area, or you need a spark of inspiration?
The Coastal Places guide supports residents and visitors to connect with Port Adelaide's nature. It shares 18 locations cherished by the local community, including cultural and environmental walks, wildlife sanctuaries, and places to visit at the river, beach, coastal woodlands, and reserves. Ways to experience nature in these places, health benefits, and tips for caring for the coast also feature.
Nature Street Creative worked with Minka Creative Studio to scope the project concept and map a collaborative development process for clients, the Port Environment Centre and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Through facilitated workshops, social media, and other opportunities, the local community, National Parks and Wildlife SA, and Green Adelaide contributed valuable insights to the guide.
NSC was responsible for leading the concept development, project management, undertaking research and writing, and photography contributions. Claire Lock launched 'Coastal Places' at the Port Environment Forum in August 2021, then facilitated several community workshops exploring ways to build nature into daily living.
